Did you catch last week's newsletter with all the details about the Control Your Fitness giveaway happening right now? We hope so. Obviously we want you to have a chance to get an Assault Bike, or a Theragun, or any number of goodies we are giving away... and even if you don't feel like winning anything, check out the #controlyourfitness posts in our Members Facebook group and on Instagram for some good vibes and incredible stories our members are sharing.

Today it's all about sharing some of our favorite (and new!) RESOURCES for you to explore, and the reminder about what's coming this weekend.

We have added a new RESOURCES page to our Members Only website as part of the "LEARN" section, with two new resources and more on the way.

(But first, please tell me you not only use the Members Only website to view all the daily workouts + demos, accessory programs, and recipes, but you also know that the LEARN menu contains a treasure of info for making the most of your SP experience. Hello "UNLOCKED" series.)

STREET PARKING KIDS

190527_SPSC-84.jpg

Six months ago when schools and sports went through the upheaval of cancellations, parents, teachers, caregivers AND the kids had a lot to adapt to without some of those regular physical activities. All of a sudden those activities that could be the source of fun, connection, passion and a much needed outlet was changed. We saw many SP families immediately adjusting workout time to become a family workout time. We saw teachers taking the basics of the SP programming, and implementing it into their online classes to empower their students to make fitness and physical activity an at home experience.

We know that many kids, parents, families and teachers are still in the midst of this "2020 new normal" and back-to-school is in full swing for many of our members. We often see questions about how to make the SP program work for kids, tweens and teens, so we have added a new page to our Members Only website with some of our favorite, tried and true tips and guidance on how the SP program can be utilized for practically any age!

Our goal is to support all of our Street Parking Kids toward a healthy lifestyle that includes different ways of incorporating movement, nutrition and even connection with self and others as daily activities. These activities will hopefully inspire you to come up with some of your own activities and routines that promote and encourage fitness, health and wellness together.

Check it out HERE...

LET'S TALK ODD OBJECTS

200912_SP-29-Edit.jpg

Equipment is one of the most encompassing and most commonly talked about topics around SP. Whether people ask what equipment is needed to do the SP programming or how to modify workouts with limited equipment options, or even what to add to the garage gym...

Dumbbells, barbells, sandbags, kettlebells, jump ropes, plyo boxes, wallballs…and the list could go on and on.

But what about some of those OTHER pieces of equipment - especially the odd objects - that you may have in your garage that you don’t see programmed in the daily workouts? Things like D-Balls, Atlas Stones, Sleds or Ropes? Much like the functional versatility of the sandbag, these are often some of the most FUN (and effective) pieces of equipment to utilize.

So how and when can you fit them into the workouts?

Check out this new resource: ODD OBJECTS & THE SP PROGRAMMING where we break down some of our favorite odd objects to utilize as well as some of the ones you often ask about.

You’ll see tips for how to sub the objects in for common movements - such as “when you see pull ups, swap it out for rope climbs” - as well as the benefits that adding some of these in can bring to your overall fitness!

Check it out and have some fun mixing it up!

HAPPENING NOW: THE ALEXSTRONG THROWDOWN

Don't miss another online event for our Street Parking family...
AlexStrong Throwdown: September 23-30

All proceeds from this virtual event will support The AlexStrong Foundation (@alexstrongfoundation), created by longtime SP member Chris Dexter, to support those affected by childhood cancer in honor of his son Alex, who inspired SO many of us with his infectious smile and resilience through his battle.

"Throughout Alex’s journey he fought with grace and dignity. He smiled through the pain and with the greatest attitude. Not once did his strength waiver. He continued to fight until his final moments. Alex is truly an inspiration. His story puts perspective on life. He showed our family and the many people that supported him that the small things in life make the biggest difference. Being grateful for every moment spent with those you love. Smiling through struggle. Loving life through pain. Staying strong, Alex-strong.

The AlexStrong Foundation will help Alex's legacy of love, perseverance and strength live on. AlexStrong will raise awareness of childhood cancer. With an aim to enable families to focus on the small things during their journeys. And helping doctors and nurses to provide the utmost compassionate and family-centered care."

All details on the AlexStrong Foundation and event can be found HERE.
